Description: FMI Aerostructures is seeking a Quality Engineer to
join our prestigious team in the aerostructures industry. As a key
member of our organization, you will play a critical role in
ensuring the highest level of quality for the machining of large
aluminum and titanium structures. The ideal candidate will possess
a degree in engineering and/or a minimum of 3 years of experience
in quality engineering, with a focus on the aerospace sector.

- Review statistical studies, regulatory standards, and trends in
quality to identify best practices and opportunities for continuous
improvement.
- Attend all meetings as required.
- Report and manage assigned customer ZDPs with assisted
oversight of adjacent customer ZDP requirements.
- Perform supplier performance evaluations and collaborate in the
new supplier selection process.
- Maintain and manage the AVL.
- Application of advanced concepts, practices, and procedures of
assigned product or program; Familiar with a variety of the field's
concepts, practices, and procedures; Working knowledge of
AS9100.
- Instruct others in quality control and analytical procedures,
serving as subject matter expert.
- Manage allocated customer scorecard adherence.
- Ensure compliance to Customer Action requests and escape
notices pertaining to all QE customer bases.
- Adjust and improve Inspection processes utilizing lean
principles and methodologies.
- Provide interim dispositions and address internal
nonconformance corrective actions and RCCA analysis.
- Maintain documentation and NPI preparation efforts when
capturing new business.
- Support off-site supplier investigations for supplier auditing
and quality process analysis.
- PO review - For outside process vendors
- Perform internal AS9100 audits.
- Issue internal RCCAs for findings, returns, scrap, and
submitted parts.
- Audit and monitor shipping records
- Generate shipping documents - C of C, packing lists, WAAF, etc.
CTPS as needed.
- 200% verification of part marking as needed.
- Manage their assigned primary customer Tool Management for
internal and customer-furnished tooling.
- Compile and publish monthly Customer quality and delivery
ratings.
- Compile and submit monthly/ quarterly and annual customer
deliverables.
- Review, update, and maintain Process Specification
checklists.
- Collaborate in the training of incoming Quality Engineering
representatives.
- Report and state the status as required to the Quality
Management and Compliance Director.
- Utilize statistical process controls to manage CPK data points
as applicable.
- Review the package for the finished product and present the
product to the source.
- Performs other duties as required and assigned Management.
Required Skills / Experience:
- Experience with AS9100 and NADCAP quality standards
(preferred).
- Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
(GD&T).
- Experience with inspection methods and tools used in the
aerospace industry (e.g., CMM, NDT).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Substantial experience handling Dept. of Defense and Aerospace
programs
- 3+ years of experience working with ISO 9000, AS9100,
commercial and military aerospace quality and engineering
specifications, AS9002:1994 and ASQR-01.
- Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA), 8D
- Ability to read technical blueprints, technical manuals, and
component maintenance manuals.
- Maintain the highest ethical standards.
- Understand and live by ethics and business conduct
policies
- Required: Compliant with the International Traffic in Arms
Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. Person status (ITAR defines
U.S. Person as a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent
Resident.)Educational Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical,
Manufacturing) and/or
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a quality engineering role in
the aerospace industry (preferred).
